BODYGUARD ON JANUARY 21

A year ago, Mammootty had made a notable performance on screen for the movie ‘Big B' playing a Mumbai based bodyguard of biggies.

After a year from this film, Dileep is likely to repeat the act in a new film. Of course with Dileep, the tone of the movie will definitely differ, from the best of the thrillers to a hilarious comic ride.

This is the first time Dileep is teaming up with Siddhique who is rightly considered as the king of quality comedies. For the last two years Siddique was sitting on the script of the film.

To be produced by Johnny Sagariga. Ace director, actor and choreographer PRABHU DEVA will design the steps for the film. The shoot of ‘Body Guard’ is completed n it ll release on 2010 January 21st in 100+ theatres....

3 IDIOTS

3 Idiots
The film is rumored to be loosely based on the famous novel, Five Point Someone by Chetan Bhagat, though denied by Hirani.

Two best friends (Madhavan and Sharman) go aboard on a quest for a long lost buddy. On their journey, they stumble upon a long forgotten bet, a wedding that they must crash, and then a funeral that goes out of control.

MAMOOTY IN DRONA

After that enchanting performance as Kaitheri Makkam in the magnum opus movie ‘Pazhassi Raja’, Kanika will once again feature herself as the heroine to Mammootty in the new movie ‘Drona’. To be directed by Shaji Kailas, the movie will also have Swetha Vijay as one of the heroines. Swetha is presently debuting into Mollywood with Suresh Gopi in the Shai Paravoor movie ‘Kadaksham’ which is on the sets.

Produced by Aroma, ‘Drona’ will start its shoot by the fourth of this month at Ottappalam. A K Sajan is in charge of the scripting department of the movie which will also feature Thilakan and Manoj K Jayan in prominent roles. Megastar Mammootty will join the sets of this movie, after completing his part in the big Christmas release ‘Chattambinaadu’

DAN DANA DEN REVIEW

‘De Dana Dan’ is a Priyadarshan film in true sense; so one can imagine 10 odd characters falling prey to a comedy of errors and another set of 10 characters adding to the confusion. But alas, the film that is promoted as one of the offing similar to the blockbuster film Hera Pheri, doesn’t even have the trio – Akshay-Suniel-Paresh together in a single scene.

Nitin (Akshay) works as a servant to a rich lady (Archana Puran Singh) to pay the loan his father had taken. His childhood sweetheart Anjali (Katrina) loves him madly and also pays the restaurant bills to date the hunk. Ram (Suniel) works as a courier boy and can’t afford to marry his love (Sameera). Nitin and Ram are friends and together devise a kidnapping plan to get quick rich. What follows is a laugh riot with a dash of mistaken identities, chaos, marriage fervour and money matters thrown in.

Veteran director Priyadarshan handles comedy and confusion with ease but we wish sharper editing scissors could have done the trick. A not so impressive climax mars the laugh-a-thon. Priyan’s gang of characters is successful in imparting a few funny sequences. There quite a few scenes that tickle your funny bone, and also some dull moments.

The peppy number ‘mein barish kardu paise ki…’, already a chartbuster, is picturised well and also adds tempo to the screenplay. And if you are waiting to catch Akki-Kat getting wet in the rain in a sensuous song, we tell you that the song ‘Aa gale lag ja…’ is still to get a go ahead from the Censor Board. Nevertheless, the title song, that serves as the background score lends pace to most sequences.

Akshay is in full form and a treat for all who love this Khiladi’s comic timing. As usual Suniel Shetty is stiff and not so impressive. Looking fresh as a petal, Katrina doesn’t get a chance to showcase her acting skills but still manages to appear eye candy. Watch her matching dance steps with Akshay and you know she is here to rule the roost. Sameera Reddy and Chunky Pandey look out of the place. By now Neha Dhupia surely knows how to carry off a call girl’s character. Paresh Rawal is consistent. In their short roles, Johny Lever and Rajpal Yadav don’t disappoint.
